Five men were seriously injured while three others suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash along Jalan Andus, Papar, this morning.
The incident, which occurred at around 7am, involved a Perodua Bezza, an Isuzu D-Max and a motorcycle.
The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department’s Operations Centre said the Papar Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call at 7.24am before a team arrived at the scene at 7.38am.
According to the department, the crash occurred when the Perodua Bezza was making a U-turn before colliding with the other two vehicles.
“All eight individuals involved in the crash were successfully extricated by the fire and rescue team,” it said in a statement.
The victims, aged between 15 and 50, were subsequently taken to hospital for further treatment using the Fire and Rescue Department’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle and ambulances.
The operation ended at 8.13am after firefighters completed their inspection and confirmed that there were no further hazards at the scene.
