A man believed to be in his 20s was found dead by the roadside near Jalan Harvard, Gurun, on Thursday morning.
The man, who was wearing black and yellow sports attire, was found lying near a bush at around 8am after members of the public discovered his body.
Kuala Muda District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said preliminary investigations found injuries to the victim’s face and head.
“The victim was found lying near the bushes along the road by members of the public. So far, no identification documents or other form of identification have been found on him,” he said.
Hanyan said the victim was believed to be a Malaysian, aged around 20, and his body had been taken to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) in Alor Setar for a post-mortem.
Police are awaiting the post-mortem findings before determining how the case will be classified.
Hanyan also urged anyone living in the area whose family member or acquaintance is missing to contact the Gurun police station to assist with identification through photographs.
He said investigations into the incident were ongoing.
