A Malaysian discipline teacher has recalled being confronted by a student’s parents after questioning their daughter over allegations that she had brought a mobile phone to school.
According to the teacher’s account, shared by mStar, the incident happened when the school strictly prohibited students from bringing mobile phones onto the premises.
The teacher said several of the girl’s classmates had reported that she was carrying a phone, prompting them to call her in for questioning.
However, the student denied the allegation, and the questioning reportedly continued for more than 30 minutes.
The following day, her parents arrived at the school to lodge a complaint against the teacher.
The teacher recalled that a counsellor was also called in for a meeting with the parents, during which the girl’s father allegedly emphasised his position as a senior bank executive.
“Teacher, do you know that I’m a senior bank executive? I have a lot of work to do,” the father reportedly said.
The teacher said they apologised for taking up his time, but the father continued to question why his daughter had been interrogated for so long.
He allegedly compared the teacher’s actions to police questioning and claimed the experience had left his daughter stressed and reluctant to attend school.
“Are you a police officer, questioning her until she gets stressed? She already said she didn’t bring it. Why did you keep asking?” he reportedly said.
The father also accused the teacher of making things difficult for his daughter.
Rather than prolong the disagreement, the teacher said they remained quiet and apologised after the parents asked that their daughter not be put under further pressure over the matter.
The account did not establish whether a phone was eventually found or whether the original allegation was confirmed.
Years later, when the student was in Form Four, the teacher said they heard that she had left home with her boyfriend and had been missing for two weeks.
Recalling their private reaction, the teacher used the phrase “nah, ambil kau”, which roughly translates to “there you go”.
The story sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting teachers who enforce school rules and others arguing that certain parents can be overly protective of their children.
However, the account reflects only the teacher’s version of events, with no response from the student or her parents included.
