Mum Charged After Husband And 3-Year-Old Son Found Stabbed To Death In Resort Hotel

Date:

A 27-year-old mother has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide after her husband and three-year-old son were found dead with stab wounds in a hotel room at a popular Pennsylvania resort.

Metallica Rose Harrison was found injured at Great Wolf Lodge in the Pocono Mountains on Monday after police were called to the hotel.

Her husband, Charles, and their young son were discovered lifeless on beds inside the room. Harrison, who had reportedly harmed herself, was taken to a nearby hospital by paramedics.

According to reports by the Daily Mail, Harrison made a disturbing statement to emergency workers while being transported in an ambulance.

“I’m not supposed to be here,” she allegedly said.

“Every day I work so hard. To be the best person, the best mother, the best wife.

“It wasn’t supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family. That’s what I envisioned since I was a child.”

Harrison had reportedly called police earlier that afternoon to ask how she could die by suicide. According to a police affidavit cited by the Daily Mail, she told the call handler that she could not find where to stab herself.

Police said Harrison also told them her husband and son were already “gone” before adding, “I’m sorry”.

Charles was found with multiple stab wounds to his chest, while the three-year-old boy had a single knife wound to the chest.

Responding officers discovered a butcher knife on the bathroom floor and a smaller knife in the sink. Hotel staff told police that the knives did not belong to the resort.

Investigators also reportedly found several bottles of medication and containers believed to contain blood.

The family had been staying at Great Wolf Lodge since September 21 and had initially planned to leave on October 5. However, they extended their stay until Tuesday, the day of the incident.

Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso described the case as a “disturbing” and “violent domestic tragedy”, adding that there was no threat to the wider public.

“The investigation continues as we gather further evidence shedding light on the circumstances surrounding this horrendous situation,” Mancuso said in a statement.

Jason Lasecki, vice-president of corporate communications for Great Wolf Lodge, told WNEP 16 that the resort was “deeply saddened and heartbroken” by the incident.

In a statement, the resort said it was an isolated family incident and confirmed it was cooperating fully with local law enforcement.

Harrison has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide. It remains unclear whether she has entered a plea.
