M’sian Teacher Left Stunned After Student Allegedly Spits At Her During Discipline Talk

Date:

A teacher has questioned how far educators are expected to tolerate student misconduct after she was allegedly spat at by a student during a discussion about discipline.

The teacher said she had initially believed the conversation would be a routine disciplinary matter. However, the situation took an unexpected turn when the student allegedly spat at her without warning.

She recalled being so shocked that she fell silent, struggling to process what had just happened.

“When the student spat at me, I went quiet. Honestly, it felt like my brain stopped for a moment,” she said.

According to mStar, the teacher described feeling a mixture of anger, embarrassment, disappointment and hurt following the incident.

Despite her emotions, she said she tried to remain composed, believing that reacting in anger could make matters worse.

“So I held it all in, even though deep down, it was really difficult to accept,” she said.

The incident also prompted her to reflect on the expectations placed on teachers to remain patient, even when faced with behaviour that crosses the line.

She stressed that spitting at someone was not ordinary misbehaviour or a harmless joke, but an act she found deeply humiliating.

The teacher questioned what message would be sent to students if such behaviour were allowed to go unaddressed, warning that patience should not mean accepting disrespect.

She clarified that her frustration was not about ego, but about having her dignity and feelings respected as a person.

While she remained committed to educating and understanding her students, she said clear boundaries and accountability were equally important.

“I still want to educate and understand, but I believe respect needs to go both ways,” she said.

She ended by questioning how teachers could teach children to respect others if educators themselves were not treated with respect.
