Malaysian Coast Guard Agency (MCBA) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain is expected to be charged at the Sepang Magistrate’s Court tomorrow over an alleged incident involving two policemen at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1.
According to a source cited by Berita Harian, Shuhaily will face charges under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt to the two policemen during the incident on September 28.
On October 17, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) had returned the investigation papers to the police for further action.
He explained that the AGC had requested several improvements to the investigation papers before deciding on the next course of action.
“The police are still completing the investigation. The AGC informed us that several improvements need to be made to the investigation papers,” he said.
Saifuddin added that the papers contained statements recorded from witnesses and information gathered throughout the investigation before they were submitted to the AGC.
He said the AGC needed to be satisfied with the investigation findings before making a decision, adding that investigation papers were usually returned to the police if further action was required.
Saifuddin said police had been instructed to complete the investigation in accordance with the AGC’s requirements.
