Police are investigating an incident in which a Perodua Myvi was surrounded and threatened by a group of motorcyclists near the Batu 13 Toll Plaza in Puchong early yesterday morning, following a video of the incident that went viral.
Serdang district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Farid Ahmad, said the Myvi driver, a 52-year-old security guard, lodged a police report immediately after the incident.
“The incident happened around 4am yesterday and we are still looking into the exact cause,” he said in a statement. “About 20 motorcyclists were involved and efforts are underway to identify and arrest them.”
The case is being investigated under Sections 427 and 279 of the Penal Code. Muhamad Farid also urged the public not to speculate in ways that could disrupt the investigation and called on witnesses to come forward with information.
A 29-second clip of the incident shows the car surrounded by a group of motorcyclists near the toll plaza. Motorbikes can be seen closing in on both sides and in front of the vehicle, apparently trying to block its path. One rider is seen punching the driver’s side window and then kicking the door, forcing the driver to slow down to avoid further escalation.
The footage highlights the tense and threatening situation faced by the driver, who was effectively trapped amid the group of motorcyclists.
