A three-year-old girl was left dangling from a 12th-floor balcony in China after getting her head trapped between metal railings, in a terrifying incident captured on video.
The dramatic footage, filmed at a residential block in Zhangping City, Fujian province, showed the toddler gripping the railing with both hands while her body hung dangerously outside the building.
Quick-thinking neighbours and security personnel rushed to help, leaning out of a window on the floor below and using a small stool to support the child and prevent her from falling.
The girl is believed to have climbed out through a window before squeezing herself between the railings and becoming stuck.
Firefighters eventually forced their way into the apartment and rescued the child. She was reportedly unharmed but was taken to hospital as a precaution.
According to local media reports, the toddler had been left alone at home after her mother reportedly went out to buy groceries while the girl was sleeping.
The footage has since gone viral, with viewers expressing relief that the child survived the ordeal while questioning how such a young girl came to be left alone.
One commenter praised the rescuers, saying: “Kudos to those officers and citizens.”
Another wrote: “That’s so scary but thankfully no one was hurt.”
A third questioned how a child so young could have been left at home without supervision.
The incident bears similarities to another case in China last month, when a five-year-old boy became trapped by his head in the railings of a sixth-floor window in Shuozhou.
The boy was reportedly dangling outside the building for more than 10 minutes, kicking his legs as he struggled to pull himself back up.
Property manager An Yilong spotted the child after noticing residents below holding a blanket in case he fell. He rushed to the apartment but received no answer and was unable to force the door open.
An then climbed out through a seventh-floor window and descended towards the boy, managing to grab and hold him securely as firefighters rushed to the scene.
