More than 10 cars parked along Jalan Persiaran Taiping in Perak were found with completely deflated tyres in a suspected act of vandalism on Wednesday morning (Oct 21), with some vehicles suffering tyre damage after their owners continued driving without noticing the problem.
The incident reportedly occurred between 7am and 8am, when several motorists discovered their tyres had lost all air pressure. Some contacted nearby tyre shops for assistance to reinflate them and prevent further damage.
A video circulating on social media showed a man wearing a black T-shirt, carrying a backpack and holding a short stick while walking around the area. However, it remains unclear whether he was involved in the suspected tyre-deflation incidents.
One affected car owner said he arrived at his shop at around 8am to prepare for business. About half an hour later, he went outside and discovered that both front tyres of his car were completely flat.
A female employee from a nearby shop also said she parked her car along the road outside her workplace at around 9am before being informed that one of its front tyres had lost air pressure.
She urged the authorities to look into the incident and step up patrols to protect public safety and property.
Meanwhile, a tyre shop technician advised motorists not to continue driving if their tyres were completely deflated, warning that doing so could cause severe damage or render the tyres unusable, resulting in greater financial losses.
