The younger sibling of the Sultan of Terengganu, Datuk Seri Dr Tengku Baderul Zaman Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah, died at Gleneagles Hospital in Kuala Lumpur at 1.20am on Saturday.
The death was announced in an official statement issued with the consent of Terengganu Regent Tengku Muhammad Ismail Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin.
According to the statement, the late Tengku Baderul Zaman’s remains are expected to arrive at Sultan Mahmud Airport in Kuala Nerus at 1.15pm on Saturday aboard a special aircraft.
The Terengganu Regent is scheduled to receive the remains before they are taken to Balai Islam for members of the public to pay their last respects.
Following Asar prayers at 4.13pm, funeral prayers will be held before the remains are taken to the Royal Mausoleum at Masjid Al-Muktafi Billah Shah in Ladang, Kuala Terengganu, for the burial ceremony.
The Terengganu Regent has also declared a three-day mourning period from Oct 24 to 26, 2026.
Meanwhile, tahlil prayers will be held for three consecutive nights at Balai Islam, Istana Syarqiyyah, in Kuala Terengganu.
