A Kuantan resident has claimed that a young boy believed to be a foreign national stole a food delivery left within the compound of his home, prompting angry reactions online after CCTV footage of the incident was shared.
In a post on Threads, user Yogivicharlie uploaded CCTV footage showing a boy taking a food parcel from the property. The incident was believed to have occurred at around 12.14pm the previous day.
“Rohingya child stealing a parcel in Kuantan. I can’t even go to work peacefully. We’re angry too, but since the house next door is rented by a woman, we can’t exactly confront them,” Yogivicharlie wrote.
He claimed the boy would wait for a motorcycle to stop, apparently referring to a food delivery rider, before coming out to take the parcel.
“We’re at work, so earlier we came back just to watch from a distance,” he added.
The post drew numerous reactions from netizens, many of whom condemned the alleged theft.
“That’s food, right? It looks like he’s had his eye on it for a while,” one user, Taufikrazali, commented.
Another user, H.sha, asked whether someone could slap the child over the incident.
Meanwhile, Aliphjolie shared a similar experience, recalling how a packet of milk for her child went missing from a motorcycle basket in a parking area during the movement control order (MCO).
She said she had been delayed coming downstairs from the second floor while caring for her baby and dealing with carpal tunnel pain in her left hand.
“I was so sad when the milk disappeared. Money was already tight at the time, during the MCO. Some people will take things whenever they see an opportunity, without thinking about right and wrong,” she wrote.
The allegations have sparked online debate over the theft of food deliveries and the importance of respecting other people’s property.
