Another Former Cop Accuses Shuhaily Of Assaulting Him 11 Years Ago

Date:

Another former police officer has alleged that he was a victim of violence involving Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain 11 years ago, when the latter was serving as Hilir Perak district police chief.

Following the allegation, lawyer Kamal Hisham Jaafar, who represents the former officer, has urged the Attorney-General to review and reconsider a police report lodged against Mohd Shuhaily on November 19, 2015.

According to a statement issued by Kamal Hisham & Associates on Wednesday, the report was filed in Teluk Intan, Perak.

However, Kamal Hisham claimed that no action had been taken against Mohd Shuhaily over the report.

He alleged that his client, who was still serving as a police officer at the time, faced various challenges and difficulties in his career after lodging the complaint.

The lawyer said the situation eventually led to his client being dismissed from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

The latest development follows Mohd Shuhaily’s court appearance on October 21, when he was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code over allegations that he assaulted two police officers at Counter J, Terminal 1 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), between 1.17pm and 1.35pm on September 28.

Kamal Hisham said the charge had given his client hope of obtaining justice and viewed it as a reflection of the principle that everyone should be equal before the law.

He and fellow lawyer Muhammad Nor Tamrin have since submitted a formal application to the Attorney-General, requesting that the 2015 police report be reviewed and reconsidered in accordance with the law.

The lawyers also called for the matter to receive due attention to ensure that the rule of law is upheld without discrimination.
