RM409 Million In Assets Frozen As Police Probe Alleged “Corporate Mafia”

Date:

Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have frozen and seized assets worth approximately RM409.21 million as part of Op Viking, an investigation into allegations of a “corporate mafia” operating in Malaysia.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the action involved 404 bank accounts holding approximately RM85.62 million, along with 417 Central Depository System (CDS) accounts and 70 share trading accounts valued at RM323.59 million.

Eight properties and 11 vehicles have also been frozen or seized as part of the investigation.

As of September 25, 2026, a total of 70 individuals had been called in to give statements to assist the investigation, Saifuddin Nasution said in a written parliamentary reply on Wednesday.

He added that, based on the backgrounds and identities of those called in as witnesses, no Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers were involved or identified as being required to assist with the investigation.

The probe was launched following a Bloomberg report published on February 12, 2026, which alleged the existence of a “corporate mafia” in Malaysia. The report included claims that enforcement agencies had abused their powers to pressure businesspeople into selling company shares at low prices to facilitate corporate takeovers.

According to Saifuddin Nasution, PDRM’s Anti-Money Laundering Criminal Investigation Team opened an investigation paper on October 14, 2025, under Section 4(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATFPUAA).

He said the investigation was still ongoing to complete the case papers.

The Home Ministry assured that PDRM remained committed to conducting the investigation in accordance with the law.
