KTM Passenger Hit By Shattered Glass After Train Window Breaks On Arau-Butterworth Route

Date:

A train passenger reportedly suffered dizziness after being struck by shattered window glass when a window broke aboard a Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) service.

According to a Threads user identified as @Alyaanblh, the incident occurred while the train was travelling from Arau, Perlis, towards Butterworth, Penang, on Thursday.

The passenger said she continued to feel dazed and dizzy after being hit by the glass.

“Before and after taking the KTM, I still felt dazed and dizzy after the glass hit my head,” she wrote.

The incident also prompted several other passengers to share their experiences, with some revealing that they were seated near the broken window when it suddenly shattered.

One user, @Ayamgoreng, said she and her friend were sitting directly beside the affected window when they heard a loud explosion-like sound.

“We were resting our eyes when suddenly there was a sound like an explosion. We were already tired after coming back from class. Thankfully, nothing happened to us, but the sound was extremely loud and frightening,” she said.

Another passenger, @Cuna, said she was listening to music when she suddenly felt something hit her.

“I looked down and saw the glass. I was sitting slightly towards the side, and it hit my face and hand. I hope everyone sitting in that area is alright,” she shared.

Meanwhile, @Arif alleged that the incident involved a stone being thrown at the train between Arau and Kodiang stations, expressing frustration over the act of vandalism.
