The German airline confirmed that one of its flight attendants died on Friday while on a stopover in Bengaluru.
However, the Frankfurt-based carrier declined to disclose further details about the circumstances of the incident or the deceased’s identity, citing privacy concerns for those affected.
“Our condolences go out to the family, relatives and friends of our deceased crew member,” Lufthansa said.
Indian broadcaster NDTV reported that the incident occurred while the two men were swimming in a pool on the hotel’s third floor.
According to media reports, the deceased Lufthansa employee was a German national, while the second victim was from Slovakia.
An American hotel guest and an Indian pool attendant were also injured while attempting to rescue the two men.
Both were initially taken to hospital for treatment but have since been reported to be out of danger.
The hotel swimming pool has reportedly been closed for maintenance following the incident.
Hotel management has pledged full cooperation with the ongoing investigation.
