A young boy in China’s Henan province left his family concerned after becoming so thin and refusing to eat that his grandmother took him to hospital.
However, after examining the child, a doctor suspected that his poor appetite might not be caused by an illness but simply because he disliked the food prepared at home.
According to Luoyang Daily, the doctor decided to test his theory by ordering KFC for the boy.
The child eagerly tucked into the fast food when it arrived, prompting the doctor to suggest that his eating problem could be down to personal food preferences rather than an underlying health issue.
In a video circulating on Weibo, the family told the doctor that the boy regularly ate very little.
The doctor suggested changing the meals served at home to see whether different food choices would encourage him to eat more.
He also asked whether the boy preferred KFC or McDonald’s before personally buying him fast food.
The boy appeared delighted with the meal and even insisted: “I can finish it all.”
The doctor reportedly advised parents not to panic or force-feed children who are fussy eaters.
He explained that children and adults can have different food preferences, and the meals prepared at home might simply not appeal to the child.
