M’sian Diner Shocked By RM18.50 Bill For Fried Chicken, Vegetables And Half Portion Of Rice

Date:

A Malaysian diner was left questioning a restaurant’s pricing after being charged RM18.50 for a simple meal of fried chicken, vegetables and half a portion of rice in Kuala Lumpur.

The customer shared his experience in a Threads post, showing pictures of his meal and the receipt issued by the restaurant.

According to his post, he had ordered half a portion of rice, a piece of fried chicken, luffa (sayur petola) and an unsweetened barley drink.

To his surprise, the food alone cost RM18.50, while the drink came to another RM3.90.

The bill prompted him to question whether he had been overcharged for the relatively modest meal.

However, it appeared that the restaurant had previously drawn complaints over its prices, with several netizens claiming they had also been unhappy with their dining experiences there.

One user, who said they had visited the establishment two years ago, described the food as mediocre and felt it did not justify the prices charged.

Another netizen advised customers to always ask for the final receipt at the cashier, claiming there had been instances where diners were allegedly charged according to the restaurant’s own discretion.

The post has once again drawn attention to the cost of eating out, as Malaysians continue to navigate rising living expenses.
