Several major roads in Shah Alam were hit by flash floods following heavy rain this morning, causing traffic congestion and disrupting motorists’ journeys.
The flooding also affected traffic heading into Shah Alam from the Guthrie Corridor Expressway, with road users facing difficulties getting into the city.
A social media user described the traffic situation as so congested that only the skies appeared to be free of traffic.
“Those heading into Shah Alam from Guthrie should start thinking about alternative routes. Only the air route is free of traffic. The sky looks like it is going to rain again,” the user wrote.
Meanwhile, another social media user, shahidrgrs, reported that the Shah Alam exit along the Federal Highway was also experiencing flooding.
“The Federal Highway is slightly flooded at the Shah Alam exit,” the user said.
The situation also prompted sympathy for motorcyclists, particularly food delivery riders whose vehicles were affected by the rising water.
One social media user expressed concern for a Grab delivery rider, lamenting that their motorcycle had been submerged despite the difficulty of securing delivery jobs.
“Poor thing, especially the one with the Grab bag. Jobs are already hard to come by, and now their motorcycle is submerged,” the user wrote.
Based on another social media update, rain was expected to return to Shah Alam at around 11am.
Motorists have been advised to drive cautiously, avoid flooded roads and use alternative routes to prevent unwanted incidents.
