Najib To Settle RM50 Million Fine Today For House Arrest

Date:

Datuk Seri Najib Razak is reportedly expected to settle the RM50 million fine imposed on him, paving the way for him to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest.

A source said a representative of the former prime minister would make the payment at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex today.

On Sept 18, Najib received a conditional pardon from Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028.

The 73-year-old former Pekan MP was sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined RM210 million after the Kuala Lumpur High Court found him guilty on July 28, 2020, of seven charges involving the misappropriation of RM42 million belonging to SRC International Sdn Bhd.
