A 38-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly slapping another man and threatening him with a knife following a disagreement over business activities in Bandar Tasik Selatan, Kuala Lumpur, on Thursday.
Cheras district police chief Assistant Commissioner Rosdi Daud said police received a report concerning the incident, in which the victim was allegedly assaulted and threatened with a sharp weapon.
The incident reportedly took place along the roadside in front of Residensi Sateria, Jalan Tasik Selatan 21, Bandar Tasik Selatan.
Following the report, police acted swiftly and arrested a local man to assist in investigations.
“Initial checks found that the suspect had no previous criminal record,” Rosdi said in a statement on Thursday.
The incident had earlier attracted attention on social media after an individual shared a post claiming to have been slapped and threatened following a disagreement related to business matters.
Rosdi said police also seized a knife believed to have been used during the incident.
The case is being investigated under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.
Further investigations are underway, including recording statements from the victim and witnesses, as well as obtaining closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the surrounding area.
