Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s daughter, Nooryana Najwa, has expressed sadness and disappointment after authorities temporarily postponed the implementation of her father’s house arrest arrangement, dashing the family’s hopes of welcoming him home.
She said Friday was supposed to be a joyful occasion for the family, as they had made preparations for Najib’s return home.
According to Nooryana, she and other family members had spent the morning contacting various parties to ensure all arrangements for his return went smoothly.
“Initially, we were told that my father would be brought home at 5pm. The time was later changed to 8.30pm, so we continued waiting.
“Earlier, at around 2pm, we received information that the Home Ministry (KDN) was trying to delay Najib’s release.
“However, our family remained confident because we understood that, procedurally, the court order that had been issued should have been sufficient,” she said on Friday.
Nooryana added that every time her father was expected to return home, another obstacle emerged, bringing back painful memories surrounding the Addendum Order.
She stressed that all the stipulated conditions had been fulfilled this time, including the payment of the RM50 million fine.
“If there were other conditions, why weren’t they communicated from the beginning? And if there were still obstacles, why was the RM50 million payment accepted today?
“How much longer? We are only asking for justice and transparency. We want the decree of His Majesty to be respected and the rule of law upheld.
“To all Najib supporters, thank you for standing by us. We need your voices more than ever. Keep speaking up, keep asking questions and keep demanding justice,” she said.
She also expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the Najib Solidarity Fund, saying every contribution had meant a great deal to her family, regardless of the amount.
The Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) had earlier announced a temporary postponement of Najib’s house arrest arrangement while seeking further clarification on the interpretation of the Conditional Pardon Order granted in September.
In a statement on Friday, the AGC said the decision followed legal questions over the implications of the RM50 million fine payment on Najib’s remaining prison sentence in the SRC International case.
The AGC said two possible interpretations of the order required further examination before any further action could be taken.
