Ten Injured After Passenger Boat Crashes Into Marine Police Vessel In Johor

Ten people were injured after a passenger boat collided with a marine police vessel at the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (Maritim Malaysia) Jetty in Gelang Patah early Wednesday morning.

According to the Johor Bahru District Civil Defence Force (APM), the incident occurred around 3.58am, with rescue teams dispatched to the scene at 4.07am.

“The accident involved 10 passengers — five local men, four Indonesian women, and one Rohingya woman from Myanmar. All victims were conscious and received initial treatment before being sent to Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) Johor Bahru for further care,” the statement said.

The rescue operation involved 15 marine police officers with one boat, four HSA medical staff with two ambulances, and two St. John emergency responders with one ambulance.

Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M Kumarasan, confirmed that a report had been received regarding the incident, adding that the case is still under investigation and an official statement will be released soon.
