School Bus Hits Lorry Near Eco Park: 40 Students and Teachers Escape Injury!

Date:

A tour bus carrying 34 students and six teachers collided with a lorry at Kilometer 63 of the Kota Bharu–Gua Musang Road near Eco Park yesterday morning. Fortunately, the accident, which occurred around 9 a.m., did not result in any injuries to either the bus passengers or the lorry driver.

Kuala Krai District Police Chief, Superintendent Mazlan Mamat, stated that the bus, transporting students and teachers from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sri Gunong Bachok, was en route to Cameron Highlands.

According to reports, the bus hit the rear of the lorry, driven by a 42-year-old man, as the lorry braked at the scene.

“The collision caused damage to both vehicles, but thankfully no one was injured. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident was due to the bus driver’s negligence, following too closely and failing to brake in time,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
