Mother Dead and Son Injured After Vehicle Crashes Into Home Right Into Their Beds

Date:

Early this morning, a tragic accident occurred at the intersection of Wuquan Road and Wuquan West Road in West District, Taichung City, leaving an 80-year-old woman dead. A car, for reasons yet unknown, lost control and smashed into a residential teahouse, trapping the driver inside. The driver was rescued by emergency personnel with severe head injuries and rushed to hospital for treatment.

The elderly woman, who lived at the teahouse with her 60-year-old son, was struck instantly and declared dead at the scene. Her son sustained head injuries but remained conscious. Details of the accident remain under investigation.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. when a blue sedan suddenly veered off the road and collided directly with the teahouse, crashing into the building with its front end severely crushed. The impact left the interior in disarray, with walls cracked and furniture scattered. Neighbors were reportedly awakened by the loud crash, prompting emergency calls. Firefighters arrived promptly to extricate the driver from the vehicle.

The mother and son normally lived in the teahouse together. To care for his elderly mother, the son had set up bunk-style sleeping arrangements, with his mother on the lower bunk and himself on the upper. At the time of the crash, the mother had no time to react and was struck on the lower bunk, while her son on the upper bunk survived.

Authorities are continuing to investigate why the vehicle lost control. This sudden late-night accident not only claimed a life but also tragically separated a devoted mother and son forever.
