A man was killed after the excavator he was operating overturned while carrying out land clearing work at a farm in Kampung Ulu Jelebu on Tuesday evening.
Jelebu District Police Chief Superintendent Azizan Said said the incident occurred around 5.35pm when the 31-year-old victim reportedly lost control of the heavy machine while driving up a hilly area.
“As a result, the excavator overturned, trapping the victim — an Indonesian national — beneath the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries,” Azizan said in a statement on Thursday.
A post-mortem conducted at the Jelebu Hospital Forensic Unit on Wednesday determined the cause of death to be multiple injuries sustained in an industrial accident.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward to the nearest police station or contact IPD Jelebu Traffic Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector Abas Mohamed at 010-8649229 to assist in the investigation.
