A male passenger was killed after being trapped inside an express bus that reportedly skidded and crashed into a hillside at Kilometer 293.4 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) heading north early this morning.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Assistant Director, Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar, said a team from the Bangi Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene immediately after receiving a distress call at 2:57 a.m.
He added that additional units from the KLIA and Seri Kembangan fire stations were also deployed to assist.
“The operations commander reported that the incident involved an express bus that lost control and crashed into a highway signpost,” he said in a statement today.
“There were 19 people on board, including the bus driver. One local male passenger, aged 59, was found trapped and pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel,” he added.
Ahmad Mukhlis said three other trapped victims were successfully rescued by firefighters at around 3:48 a.m., while the remaining passengers managed to crawl out of the bus before help arrived.
