800,000 vehicles expected to enter Negeri Sembilan during Deepavali

Date:

SEREMBAN: Police expect around 800,000 vehicles to enter Negeri Sembilan during the Deepavali celebration on October 20, marking an increase of about 73 percent compared to the usual 460,000 vehicles on normal days.

Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the significant rise is due to the long weekend coinciding with an additional two days of school holidays granted by the Ministry of Education, which will contribute to heavier traffic along the state’s main routes.

“A total of 279 officers and personnel from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) will be deployed throughout Ops Lancar, starting this Friday until October 21, to ensure smooth traffic flow and road user safety.

Monitoring and patrols will be intensified at 19 hotspots and three blackspots across the state, along with enforcement actions throughout the operation period,” he said.

He added that several routes are expected to experience congestion, including the North–South Expressway (Nilai to Pedas-Linggi), the Kajang–Seremban Expressway (Pajam–Ampangan), Seremban–Kuala Pilah Road, and Seremban–Tampin Road.

Alzafny advised the public to plan their journeys early, avoid peak hours, and check real-time traffic updates through applications such as Waze, Google Maps, or official traffic information channels like the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM).

“In addition, always stay cautious in busy areas, ensure your vehicle is in good condition, practice safe driving, and only use the emergency lane during actual emergencies, except in areas where the Smart Lane system is activated,” he said.
