Apple Set to Unveil Three New Devices This Week Featuring Powerful M5 Chip

Date:

It hasn’t even been a month since Apple unveiled its latest iPhones, new AirPods, and smartwatches, but the tech giant is already preparing to release another round of hardware products.

According to industry expert Mark Gurman, Apple will introduce three new devices later this week, all expected to be powered by the new M5 chip, which promises faster processing and enhanced AI capabilities. These products are likely to hit stores before the end of October.

Gurman noted in his Power On newsletter: “With the iPhone 17 line, iPhone Air, AirPods Pro 3, and new watches already released, Apple is now turning its attention to the rest of its fall product pipeline. I’m expecting a number of new products to be introduced in this latest wave.”

Updated Vision Pro Headset

Apple is expected to release an updated version of its Vision Pro headset, originally launched in the US earlier last year. This new model will feature the M5 chip for faster, more energy-efficient performance and improved AI capabilities. It will also include an enhanced strap design for better comfort, with support bands along the back and top of the head.

The current Vision Pro weighs around 600g and starts at £3,499, though it is unclear if the updated model will be lighter or cheaper. Gurman notes that the Vision Pro has struggled to gain a wide following due to its design, which limits daily use and overall appeal. The upcoming release is expected to be a minor update, with a full redesign likely coming in the future.

iPad Pro (11-inch and 13-inch)

Another product expected this week is the eighth-generation iPad Pro, also equipped with the M5 chip. Following last year’s seventh-gen model with the M4 chip and OLED display, the new iPad Pro is expected to retain the 11-inch and 13-inch screen options priced at £999 and £1,299, respectively. A minor design change will remove the “iPad Pro” inscription from the back, but otherwise the design remains largely unchanged. Gurman reports that both the new Vision Pro and iPad Pro are already in mass production, with Apple preparing for a near-term release.

14-inch MacBook Pro

The third device is a 14-inch MacBook Pro, also featuring the M5 chip as the main upgrade from the existing £1,599 model. A 16-inch variant is expected to follow next year. The laptop is aimed at business professionals and will likely be announced online rather than at a live Apple event, as Apple typically does for iPhone launches.

While the exact release date hasn’t been confirmed, Apple often announces new products on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. PT (6 p.m. BST). Fans are advised to watch Apple’s official website and social media channels for updates.

In summary, the three anticipated Apple products coming this week are:

  • Updated Vision Pro headset
  • iPad Pro (11-inch and 13-inch)
  • 14-inch MacBook Pro

All three devices are expected to feature the new M5 chip, delivering enhanced performance and AI capabilities.
