Police Seek Public Help to Identify Victim of Suspected Hit-and-Run on Jalan Pan Borneo

Police are seeking the public’s help to identify a male pedestrian who died in a suspected hit-and-run along Jalan Pan Borneo KM826.9 in Miri yesterday.

Miri district police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the victim, estimated to be in his 40s or 50s, was walking when he was struck from behind by an unidentified vehicle. A medical officer from Ladang Tiga Health Clinic pronounced him dead at the scene around 4.05pm.

The man was last seen on October 16 near Kampung Subis 1, about five kilometres from the accident site, walking bare-chested and wearing shorts. A physical examination revealed he was slightly plump with no tattoos.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Police urge anyone with information about the incident or who may recognize the victim to contact traffic investigation officer Insp Mohammad Amiruddin Hamdan at 018-952 9957 or 085-433 400, or visit the nearest police station.
