A 23-year-old army sergeant surnamed Shi, stationed at the Dongyin Command, has been reported to authorities after allegedly stealing a female passenger’s shoes aboard the “Xin-Tai-Ma Ferry.” When the shoes were returned, they reportedly contained bodily fluids. The victim reported the incident, and Shi admitted, “It was me,” leading to charges of theft and property damage. The Dongyin Command confirmed the case and stated that the relevant units will conduct a full investigation.
The incident occurred on October 16, when the woman posted on social media that while lying on a bed in the women-only section of the ferry and using her phone, her shoes were taken. When she attempted to report the theft at the ferry’s counter, a man returned the shoes to the aisle. Upon inspecting them, she discovered an unknown fluid on the soles.
According to reports, the suspect admitted to the act and promised compensation. Authorities from the Coast Guard took action after the ferry docked at 5:20 PM, and Shi was formally handed over for legal processing.
The army unit confirmed that the sergeant committed the obscene act while on leave aboard the ferry. Since the incident occurred on a vessel, the case will be handled and investigated by the appropriate authorities.
