A viral pageant moment had viewers laughing when Miss Panama, Isamar Herrera, accidentally celebrated a spot she hadn’t actually secured. The mishap unfolded at the Miss Grand International competition in Bangkok on Saturday, Oct. 18, during the announcement of finalists.
As host Matthew Deane called out the lucky contestants, Herrera appeared to mishear her country’s name and confidently strutted to the center of the stage, clapping and smiling as though she had made the cut. Cameras caught her holding her pose for several seconds—until Deane quickly clarified, “Uh, I beg your pardon. I announced Miss Grand Paraguay.” He explained the mix-up by noting the hall’s overwhelming noise, packed with fans from across the globe.
Embarrassment aside, Herrera handled the moment with grace and humor. She later shared a screen-recording of the blunder on her Instagram Stories with giggling emojis and reposted a motivational quote: “The fact that you’re handling things better than before is already a huge step forward. Give yourself credit. Life is evolution, not perfection.”
Overlaying text on her post reflected her positive outlook: “I love how things take their course beautifully, effortlessly, and in the end, it all turns out better than I imagined.” Even in the face of a widely viewed on-stage slip, Herrera turned the moment into a reminder that laughter—and perspective—go a long way.
