A restaurant owner faced a terrifying ordeal after being attacked by a group of men armed with a machete during a robbery in Sungai Jarom, Kuala Langat, yesterday evening.
Kuala Langat District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi, said the incident occurred around 7 p.m. when the 48-year-old local woman and her husband were at their restaurant.
“Three unidentified men suddenly entered the premises wearing masks and wielding a machete. They escaped with three gold necklaces and two gold rings belonging to the couple, with losses estimated at around RM10,000,” he said in a statement today.
He added that another suspect is believed to have waited outside the restaurant in a Perodua Bezza or Proton Saga, though the vehicle’s registration number has not yet been identified.
No injuries were reported in the incident, and police have opened an investigation under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed gang robbery.
“Investigations are ongoing to track down all the suspects involved. Members of the public with information are urged to contact the Kuala Langat District Police Headquarters Operations Room at 03-3187 2222 or any nearby police station,” he said.
Police also advised the public not to spread speculation that could interfere with the ongoing investigation.
