Body Found In Kuching Mall Confirmed To Be Missing Woman, Say Police

Date:

Police have confirmed that the body discovered inside a car at a shopping mall along Jalan Song yesterday was that of a young woman who had been reported missing several days earlier.

Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said officers received a report at 1.55pm from a member of the public who found an unconscious woman inside a parked vehicle at the mall.

A police team was immediately dispatched to the scene, where they found the woman lying motionless in the driver’s seat. Firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya fire station were called in to unlock the vehicle, which had been locked from the inside.

“Medical personnel from Sarawak General Hospital later confirmed that the woman had died,” Alexson said in a statement today.

He added that the deceased, who was in her 20s, was identified as the same woman reported missing in the Tabuan Jaya area on Oct 25. Her body has since been sent to Sarawak General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

“Preliminary investigations found no signs of foul play, and the case has been classified as sudden death,” Alexson said, urging the public not to speculate on the incident out of respect for the victim’s family.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact Sekama police station chief ASP Simon Renang at 016-8547803, the Sekama police station at 082-332522, or the nearest police station.
