Police raided an illegal karaoke business catering exclusively to foreign nationals on Jalan Kampung Baru last Saturday night.

Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan, said the operation was conducted at 11:30pm by officers from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Kuala Muda District Police Headquarters.

The karaoke venue, previously raided earlier this year, had resumed operations shortly afterward.

During the raid, police detained 21 Myanmar nationals, including 14 men and seven women. Among those arrested were a 28-year-old male counter attendant and two female staff in their 20s, while the patrons ranged in age from their 20s to 30s.

“All 21 individuals were remanded for 14 days starting 9 November to assist with the investigation,” Hanyan confirmed.
