A man in Ogan Ilir, Indonesia, allegedly assaulted his wife out of jealousy after accusing her of posting too many photos of herself on Facebook. The 53-year-old suspect was arrested by police for attacking his 51-year-old wife at their home in South Pemulutan District on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
According to Tribun Bekasi, the case went viral after locals shared the victim’s story on social media. Ogan Ilir Criminal Investigation Unit Chief, AKP Mukhlis, said the attack stemmed from the husband’s anger over his wife’s frequent photo uploads, which he claimed made her look “too narcissistic.”
At the time, the victim was reportedly sitting in her room using her phone when her husband demanded it. When she refused, a struggle broke out, and the man began hitting her, leaving bruises and swelling on her face.
Neighbors rushed to help after hearing the woman’s screams and later took her to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police arrested the suspect at his home on Saturday night, November 1, without resistance.
“The suspect is now in custody for further investigation,” said Mukhlis.
