A man met a young girl through a dating app and sexually assaulted her. During one of their disputes, the girl, in panic, ran out wearing only her underwear to seek help, unintentionally exposing the man’s repeated acts of taking her to motels. During the incident, the man became enraged and chased her, all while his mother and sister witnessed the events. During police investigation, the man initially denied the allegations, but testimonies from his mother and sister, along with evidence from a damaged phone, confirmed his crimes. The Shilin District Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges against him for sexual intercourse with a girl under 14 and for forcible indecent assault.
Prosecutors reported that in July 2023, the man met the girl—who was under 14 at the time—via a dating app. Despite her age, he maintained contact and developed a close relationship with her. On October 10, 2023, he took advantage of her being away from home and had sexual intercourse with her at a motel in New Taipei City. On October 22, he again engaged in sexual activity with her when she returned to her hometown. On February 4, 2024, the two went to a hot spring resort in Hsinchu, where he once more had sexual relations with the girl.
On a day in May 2024, the two had a conflict at the man’s residence. The girl attempted to leave and change clothes, but the man suddenly lost control, forcibly pulling her back and attempting to touch her private parts. In fear, the girl ran out of the room wearing only her undergarments, shouting for help. The man chased after her, snatched her phone, and angrily smashed it. Luckily, the man’s mother and sister were at home and witnessed the girl fleeing in panic. They intervened and restrained him, allowing the girl to escape and report the incident.
During the investigation, the man admitted to the relationship and breaking the phone but denied the forcible indecent assault. However, his mother and sister testified that they knew of the two’s close relationship, heard the heated argument, and saw the girl fleeing and the man smashing her phone. The sister also noted that she had seen photos of the girl attending family gatherings in their family group chat, further corroborating the long-term closeness between the two.
