A moderate earthquake measuring a preliminary magnitude of 5.2 shook parts of Cyprus on Wednesday, though authorities reported no immediate damage.
The tremor occurred at approximately 11:32 a.m. local time (0932 GMT). Data from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre indicated that the quake was also felt in neighboring Lebanon.
While Cyprus lies in a seismically active region, earthquakes of this magnitude rarely result in significant damage.
