North Korea Hits Back at G7, Says Nukes Are “Non-Negotiable”

Date:

North Korea’s Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui has sharply criticized the joint statement issued by G7 nations, state media KCNA reported on Friday, rejecting their call for the complete denuclearisation of North Korea.

The G7 statement, released on Wednesday after a meeting of foreign ministers in Canada, condemned Pyongyang’s nuclear programme and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to achieving North Korea’s full denuclearisation.

Choe dismissed the declaration as a “disguised hostile act,” saying the demand disregarded North Korea’s constitution. She argued that, given the current global tensions, maintaining nuclear weapons is “the most correct option” for deterring what she described as the world’s most dangerous and hostile states.
