Taipei Elite High School Scandal: Student Sniffs Jacket, Uses Water Bottle as Urinal

Date:

Taipei Municipal University of Education High School, one of the top three schools in the Greater Taipei area and alma mater to many notable alumni including the members of Taiwan’s famous band Mayday, has recently been rocked by a shocking incident.

Earlier last month, a male student reportedly entered an empty girls’ classroom, grabbed a female student’s jacket to sniff it, and even used her water bottle as a makeshift urinal. The incident was discovered by teachers on the spot and quickly spread across campus, sparking outrage on social media. The student involved told Mirror Weekly that the school took no action afterward, questioning whether it was attempting to “cover up” the case.

One student told Mirror Weekly that the behavior was “completely insane” and expressed frustration with the school’s lack of response. When contacted for comment, a school staff member said that the case was being actively investigated and had entered legal procedures, but due to student privacy and legal regulations, details could not be disclosed.

The staff member added that the school was taking the matter seriously and that the relevant department was handling it. They said the school would also follow up with students to hear their concerns and report the case to higher authorities as required. “Regardless of whether the incident occurred exactly as reported, we approach it with compassion and responsibility,” the staff member said.

Another student expressed dissatisfaction with how the situation was handled, noting that the incident had already become widely known on campus. Some classmates had even identified the student involved, and an apology had reportedly been posted online. The student stressed that speaking out was intended to improve the school and prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
