Australian Man Jailed After Rushing Ariana Grande at Singapore Premiere

Date:

An Australian man who lunged at singer-actress Ariana Grande during a movie premiere at Universal Studios Singapore has been sentenced to nine days in jail.

Johnson Wen, 26, pleaded guilty to a charge of public nuisance, The Straits Times reported.

Wen had arrived in Singapore on Nov 11 on a 90-day social visit pass, intending to attend the Wicked: For Good premiere and enjoy a vacation.

However, during the event on Nov 13, he sparked chaos when he jumped over a barricade as cast members walked the yellow carpet between 7pm and 7.10pm.

He made his way to Grande, jumping excitedly and placing his arm around her.

Her co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly stepped in to shield Grande before security officers subdued Wen and removed him from the area.
