‘Catch The Eels!’ Eel Escape Sends Subway Passengers Scrambling To Catch Them

Date:

Commuters on a subway train in Nanjing, China, were caught off guard when dozens of live eels suddenly slipped onto the carriage floor, sending passengers scrambling to catch them.

The unusual incident took place on Nanjing Metro Line 2 after a bucket containing the aquatic animals accidentally tipped over inside the train.

The eels quickly wriggled in different directions across the floor, leaving startled passengers trying to avoid stepping on them as they moved around the carriage.

Footage recorded during the incident later spread widely on social media, showing several eels darting across the train floor while commuters attempted to contain the unexpected chaos.

Some passengers initially appeared shocked by the unusual sight, while others decided to help rather than simply watch the slippery escape unfold.

Several commuters were seen bending down to catch the eels and return them to the overturned bucket.

The incident turned an otherwise ordinary subway journey into an unusual rescue effort, with passengers working together to round up the runaway animals before they could spread further throughout the carriage.

The video has since attracted attention online, with the unexpected scene providing a memorable interruption to the daily commute for those aboard the train.
