Firefighters were deployed this morning after a crocodile measuring around three metres was spotted inside a roadside drain near a petrol station in Sungai Manggis, Banting.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received an emergency call at 9.07am before a team from the Banting fire station was immediately dispatched.
He said the crew arrived at the location at 9.12am and confirmed the presence of the large reptile trapped in a concrete drainage system close to a public roadway.
Ahmad Mukhlis added that an operation was swiftly launched to safely capture the crocodile, which was partially submerged in the narrow drain at the time.
Images from the scene showed firefighters positioning themselves along both sides of the drain, using long poles and ropes in an attempt to restrain the animal.
In a tense moment during the operation, one firefighter was seen carefully stepping onto a concrete beam across the drain to get closer to the crocodile, while others stood by with rescue equipment.
A total of eight firefighters were involved in the operation, supported by a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) unit and a utility vehicle.
No injuries were reported, and efforts to safely capture the crocodile were still ongoing at the time of reporting.
