Fisherman Lets Go Of Giant Goldfish Believed To Be Ancestral Spirit

Date:

A video has gone viral showing a fisherman in Indonesia releasing a goldfish back into a river, reportedly out of fear of bad luck, according to news portal Lambe Turah.

The footage, shared on TikTok, captures the man carefully letting go of the large goldfish, which he had caught accidentally.

Aside from his superstition, the fisherman released the fish because of its size and his belief that it might be an ancestral spirit.

The video has sparked widespread reactions online. Some netizens joked, “If the fish is cooked and buried, will a tree grow?” while others dismissed the claims, saying, “These are all myths.”
