Date:

The Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) has confirmed receiving reports regarding the sighting of a Malayan tiger near the Sungai Relai Bridge area in Gua Musang following the circulation of a video on social media.

Director-General Datuk Abdul Kadir Abu Hashim said investigations carried out by the Gua Musang district office found that the tiger was believed to have only passed through the area before returning to its natural habitat.

He said inspections at the location did not reveal any trace of the animal, and no reports of disturbances involving local residents had been received so far.

According to him, no tiger was spotted during ground checks, and there had been no prior complaints of attacks or disruption in the area.

He advised the public not to approach or provoke wildlife if encountered, and to immediately report sightings to the Perhilitan hotline at 1-800-88-5151.

Perhilitan said it will continue monitoring the area to ensure public safety while maintaining ongoing conservation efforts for the Malayan tiger.
