Malaysian Man Shocked By RM4 Sandwich With Tiny Sardine Filling

Date:

A Malaysian man was left disappointed after buying a RM4 sandwich that appeared to contain a generous amount of sardine filling, only to discover that most of the bread was left practically empty.

The customer took to Threads to share photos of the sandwich and question whether the portion matched what he expected for the price.

From the outside, the sandwich appeared to have a substantial amount of sardine filling. However, after taking a closer look, he found that the filling covered only around a quarter of one slice of bread before the second slice was placed on top.

The discovery left him feeling that he had received poor value for money, especially considering the sandwich cost RM4.

The post quickly attracted attention online, with other users also expressing disappointment over the amount of filling.

One user accused the vendor of being dishonest with customers, while another claimed that even sandwiches sold at hospitals offered more generous fillings despite costing only RM2.50.

The discussion eventually caught the attention of the vendor herself, who responded to the criticism and explained that she had been selling the sandwiches for four years.

According to the vendor, she had removed the liquid from the canned sardines before cooking the filling until it became thicker. She also apologised for failing to spread the sardine mixture evenly across the bread.

The incident has since sparked a wider discussion among netizens over portion sizes and whether the amount of filling in a food item should match customers’ expectations based on its appearance and price.
