Moo Deng Predicts Argentina To Beat Spain In World Cup Final

Date:

Thailand’s popular pygmy hippopotamus, Moo Deng, has once again captured public attention after predicting Argentina to defeat Spain and lift the 2026 FIFA World Cup trophy.

The prediction took place during a special enrichment activity organised by Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Si Racha, Chon Buri, on Saturday to build excitement ahead of the World Cup final while entertaining visitors.

Zoo director Narongwit Chodchoi and the animal nutrition team prepared two fruit platters, each carved with the names of the finalists, Argentina (ARG) and Spain (ESP), and decorated with their respective national flags.

When released by its keeper, Moo Deng wasted little time before heading straight towards the fruit platter representing Argentina, drawing cheers and applause from visitors watching the event.

The activity also served as an opportunity for the famous pygmy hippo to redeem its previous World Cup predictions, which failed to materialise.

Earlier in the tournament, Moo Deng predicted France would defeat Spain and also backed England to overcome Argentina, with both forecasts proving incorrect.

Narongwit said the programme was designed to provide entertainment for visitors while supporting the zoo’s animal enrichment initiatives.

He explained that preparing fruit-based enrichment activities encourages animals to stay active, reduces stress, promotes natural behaviours and contributes to a balanced diet.

He stressed that the event was purely recreational and educational, adding that it was not intended to promote gambling or betting in any form.
