Hong Leong Bank (HLB) has launched HLB opus, the first ceramic credit card in Southeast Asia, exclusively for selected customers in recognition of their achievements, leadership and excellence throughout their personal and professional journeys.
The card is made from Convego® Ceramic, a material designed to be scratch-resistant and crafted through a high-pressure and high-temperature forging process.
HLB said the premium material reflects the journey of high-net-worth individuals, with the physical card serving as a lasting symbol of their achievements.
HLB opus is part of the bank’s integrated approach to customers’ business and personal wealth management through its “One Bank” customer success model, which brings together the strengths of three core businesses.
These include Business and Corporate Banking, which supports entrepreneurship, business expansion and value creation, alongside HLB’s private banking and wealth management capabilities.
HLB Managing Director of Personal Financial Services Andrew Jong said HLB opus was designed to celebrate customers whose personal stories, legacies, business journeys and sacrifices had shaped who they are today.
“HLB opus is a fitting recognition of these achievements. Together with our partners, HLB opus celebrates this success by offering world-class privileges globally, premium travel rewards and personalised exclusive experiences,” he said.
Beyond its prestigious design, HLB opus also comes with a range of exclusive benefits intended to offer customers a physical representation of exclusivity.
Giesecke+Devrient Singapore managing director Farouk Musthafa said physical cards remained a tangible symbol of privilege despite the growing dominance of digital technology.
“Using our Convego® Ceramic technology, HLB opus has been meticulously crafted as a premium masterpiece that sets a new benchmark for luxury payment experiences,” he said.
Built around Visa’s new Infinite Privilege category, one of the world’s most exclusive rewards tiers, HLB opus offers international privileges designed for globally minded industry leaders.
Benefits include travel, dining, wellness and concierge services, including unlimited access to Plaza Premium Lounges worldwide, access to Visa private clubs, fast-track immigration services and status matches with Harrods Gold, ALL Accor+ Explorer Gold and Banyan Voyager.
Visa Malaysia country manager for affluent customers Jason Phua said high-income customers increasingly viewed luxury as extending beyond traditional concepts, placing greater value on personalised and distinctive experiences that reflected their achievements.
“We are proud to partner with HLB to introduce this exceptional offering in Malaysia, recognising success through thoughtfully curated experiences, premium services and seamless access wherever life takes them,” he said.
HLB opus customers will receive 60,000 Enrich Points immediately after paying the annual fee and can earn one Elite Point for every RM10,000 spent overseas.
Malaysia Aviation Group Loyalty & Travel Services chief executive officer Phillip See said travellers who valued quality experiences were increasingly seeking not only premium destinations but also more meaningful experiences throughout their journeys.
“Through our partnership with HLB opus, we are pleased to offer greater value, choice and convenience to our customers,” he said.
He added that the collaboration further extended Malaysian hospitality by providing seamless rewards redemption and exclusive travel privileges through Malaysia Airlines and the oneworld global network.
The launch of HLB opus marks another milestone in HLB’s transformation strategy, with business and wealth management positioned as key growth drivers.
It also strengthens the bank’s broader suite of offerings, combining its business and corporate banking capabilities with solutions from HLB Private Bank and partnerships with global wealth management firms, including Lombard Odier.
