A freelance photographer has publicly apologised after admitting that he ate food served at a wedding reception without first obtaining permission from the newlywed couple.
The incident took place while he was working at a client’s wedding on Sunday, July 19. In a public statement, the photographer acknowledged that his actions were unprofessional and accepted full responsibility for the mistake.
“I admit that I took the food without my client’s invitation or permission. I know what I did was wrong and should never have happened,” he wrote.
Following the incident, the newlyweds requested that he compensate them for the meal and issue a public apology. The photographer complied with both requests and shared proof of a RM500 bank transfer made to the couple.
Expressing regret over the incident, he said the experience had taught him an important lesson and urged fellow photographers and videographers to always uphold professionalism and proper etiquette while working at events. He stressed that respecting clients’ boundaries is an essential part of the job.
The apology quickly gained traction on social media, sparking mixed reactions among netizens. While some questioned whether charging RM500 for a single meal was excessive, others argued that vendors should never assume they are entitled to eat at an event without first seeking approval from the client.
After leaving the apology online for 24 hours, the photographer deleted the post. He later clarified that it was never intended to generate outrage or attract sympathy, but was simply a sincere attempt to apologise for his actions.
“Once again, I apologise and will treat this as a lesson for myself,” he said.
