A pink albino buffalo nicknamed “Donald Trump” has captured widespread attention in Bangladesh after going viral on social media due to its unusual appearance, which many claim resembles US President Donald Trump.
The nearly 700-kilogram buffalo is being raised at Rabeya Agro Farm in the Paikpara area of Narayanganj and was reportedly given the nickname because of the golden-coloured hair on its head.
Farm owner Ziauddin Mridha said the name was spontaneously suggested by his younger brother after noticing the animal’s hairstyle, which they felt closely resembled Trump’s signature look.
“This buffalo is very tame. Albino buffaloes are usually calm and not aggressive unless disturbed,” he said.
The rare animal has since become a local attraction, with many visitors flocking to the farm to see it in person, take photographs and even touch the buffalo up close.
Ziauddin revealed that he purchased the buffalo from a livestock market in Rajshahi about 10 months ago. He added that the animal has already been sold at a rate of 550 Bangladeshi taka (RM17.60) per kilogram based on live weight and is expected to be handed over to its new owner next week.
A local resident identified as Russell said he visited the farm after watching videos of the buffalo circulating on Facebook.
“It really does look like Trump. The face shape and hair are very similar,” he said.
Another visitor, Mim, who came together with her child, admitted she initially thought the comparison was exaggerated after seeing photos online.
“However, after seeing it in person, it really does resemble Trump. The name suits it well,” she said.
Farm caretaker Kawser said the buffalo receives special care, including being bathed four times a day.
According to him, the animal is fed a diet consisting of corn, oil cake, bran, rice husks and grass.
The farm also announced that it is preparing around 200 cows and buffaloes for this year’s Eid al-Adha celebrations, with nearly all of the livestock already booked by buyers.
