Police in England are searching for a man suspected of sexually assaulting a horse on multiple occasions over a period of nearly two years.
South Yorkshire Police have released closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage images in a bid to identify the individual, who investigators believe could assist in their ongoing inquiry.
The case centres on reports that a man repeatedly committed sexual acts against the same horse between January 2024 and January 2026 in the Abdy area of Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
Under England’s Sexual Offences Act 2003, engaging in sexual activity with an animal is a criminal offence.
The suspect is described as slim-built with short, dark hair and is believed to be a resident of the Abdy area.
A police spokesperson said officers had launched a formal investigation following the reports and were now turning to the public for help.
“We are releasing a CCTV image of a man we would like to speak to, as he may be able to assist with our investigation,” the spokesperson said.
“We appreciate the image is not of the highest quality, but we hope someone may recognise the individual or the clothing he is wearing.”
Members of the public with any information are urged to contact South Yorkshire Police via the online reporting portal or by calling 101, quoting incident number 460 of January 30.
